On May 3, a parish in the outskirts of the Philippine capital “celebrated” the “Feast of Our Lady of Grace.”

It was not the celebration that people was used to. There were no parties. But people came together to celebrate their faith.

Oblate priests Edward Vasquez and Rey Amancio prepared food packs that they distributed to those most affected by the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“The routine of donning, getting out [of the protective suit], and disinfecting is a very hot and tiring process, but now more than ever is the time to show that the flock is not alone,” said Father Vasquez.

“They need to be able to see and feel, to be able to hold on to their faith,” said the priest.

He said that the simple gesture of visiting, talking, and listening to the people, and even sharing a simple meal, is a spark that might be able to keep the faith alive among the poor in times of need.
