A Lenten art exhibition in Marikina brought together 68 artists to reinterpret Christ’s suffering, inviting reflection while raising support for vulnerable children.
Titled “Calvario,” the group exhibition opened March 21 at the Infant Jesus Academy–Sentro Leona Galeria Museo, presenting works that explore the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ through diverse visual forms.
Organizers described the exhibit as “a visually stunning and emotionally charged tribute to the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ,” with each artist offering “their unique perspective and interpretation to the theme.”
The opening reception was held at 3 p.m., the hour traditionally associated with Jesus’ death, situating the exhibit within the spiritual rhythm of Lent.
Visitors encounter pieces intended to evoke “reverence, contemplation, and introspection,” reflecting on the meaning of suffering, sacrifice, and faith.
A portion of the proceeds will support Meritxell Children’s Home, which organizers said is “a worthy cause that embodies the spirit of compassion and service exemplified by Jesus Christ.”
The exhibition runs until May 26, offering a space where artistic expression and faith converge in a shared call to reflection and solidarity.
