92 percent of Filipinos welcome new year ‘with hope’ — Pulse Asia

The survey also found that 43 percent of Filipino adults will have "a more prosperous holiday celebration this year"

Most Filipinos, 92 percent according to a survey done by pollster Pulse Asia, will welcome the new year “with hope.”

Pulse Asia’s November 2022 Survey on the Holiday Season and the Year Ahead showed that 92 percent of adult Filipinos will face the year ahead with hope.

Eight percent are ambivalent and could not say if they were facing 2023 with hope or without while less than one percent said they were doing so without hope.

“Ambivalence on the matter is expressed by eight percent of adults while less than one percent say they will face the coming new year without hope,” read the Pulse Asia report released on Tuesday, December 19.

The survey also found that 43 percent of Filipino adults will have “a more prosperous holiday celebration this year.”

Up to 42 percent of the respondents, however, expect their celebration will be no different from the one they had last year, which they described as prosperous.

Ten percent expect their celebration to be the same as last year, which they described as not prosperous, while six percent said they were poorer than last year.

“The rest of Filipino adults will either have a family holiday celebration that is just as poor as what they had last year (10%) or one that is poorer than their festivities a year ago (6%),” said Pulse Asia.

The nationwide survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents, representing adults 18 years old and above.
