Philippine bishops release schedule of activities for Laudato Si’ Week 2021

With the theme “Celebrating Change,” the celebration will be held in the context of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines

The Philippine Catholic bishops’ National Laudato Sí Program (NLSP) core team published the calendar for this year’s Laudato Sí Week celebration in the country.

The May 16 to 24 event celebrates the anniversary of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical, Laudato Sí, which was issued in 2015.

With the theme “Celebrating Change,” the celebration will be held in the context of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines.

Father Antonio Labiao Jr., CBCP-NLSP coordinator, said the activities aim “to celebrate the Church’s breakthrough and advances in bringing Laudato Sí to life.”

“This is also the time to reflect on what the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us and to inspire one another to move on in hope towards a future marked with a deeper love and reverence for life,” he said.

The NLSP was launched last March and seeks to strengthen the collective advocacies, formation plans and actions to care for our common home.

Its core team is led by the Episcopal Commission on Social Action- Justice and Peace (ECSA-JP), also known as Caritas Philippines, and of which Father Labiao is the executive secretary.
