The Manila Cathedral will open its doors to the public for prayer on September 8, Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In a Facebook post, the Manila Cathedral urged those who will go to church to wear face masks and face shields as quarantine protocols remain in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Cathedral said the church will be opened only for private prayers from eight o’clock in the morning until 11 a.m. and from one o’clock until five o’clock in the afternoon.
The Holy Mass that will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. will only accommodate 80 people.
The Cathedral earlier asked those who want to attend Mass to make a reservation online.
“We are overwhelmed by the eagerness of many to be physically present for the Mass, but because of our present situation, we need to limit the number of people inside the cathedral,” read the social media announcement.
It added that all celebrations will still be streamed online on Facebook and YouTube for those staying at home.
Public Masses at the Manila Cathedral have been suspended since March due to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, former prelate of Manila, will lead the “Healing Rosary for the World” on September 8 at 9 p.m. from the St. Joseph Seniorate House in Lipa, Batangas
“Let us be one in prayer, asking our Mother to lead us to the protection and healing of Her Son, Jesus Christ,” read the Cathedral’s announcement.
The “Healing Rosary for the World” is an initiative of the Manila Cathedral and is being done every Wednesday night.
