More Filipino health workers infected with new coronavirus disease

THE Department of Health reported 46 new COVID-19 cases among health workers, taking the total number of health workers with COVID-19 to 2,606 as of May 31.

The report was included in the Health department’s daily COVID-19 report, but it was not mentioned during the briefing on June 1.

The 2,606 health workers with COVID-19 make up 14.4 percent of the total number of confirmed cases.

This percentage is lower than the previous week’s, although still substantial.

Of the 1,172 active cases, or those who are still in hospitals or home quarantine, 952 have mild symptoms while two have severe symptoms. A total of 218 are considered asymptomatic.

Included in the total number of health workers are 948 nurses, 709 doctors, 168 nursing assistants, 104 medical technologists, 52 radiologic technologists and 324 non-medical staff from health facilities.
