PHOTOS: Typhoon spares not a church in central Philippines

Typhoon “Ambo” (international name: Vongfong) dumped heavy rains and torn off roofs as it roared ashore on Samar Island on Thursday, May 14, leaving thousands of people homeless.

The parish church of St. Raymond Nonnatus in the town of Arteche in Eastern Samar province was not spared by the wrath of the typhoon.

The ten-year old structure was blown away by strong winds brought by “Ambo,” the first tropical cyclone to hit the country this year.
