De La Salle students call for mass promotion

Students of the Catholic De La Salle University system called for the mass promotion of students “as most compassionate course of action” for the academic sector amid the global health emergency

De La Salle student governments, publications, and organizations from De La Salle University – Manila, De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, De La Salle Araneta University, De La Salle University – Dasmarinas, De La Salle Lipa, and De La Salle University Science and Technology Complex made a system-wide unity to call for the end of the academic semester, mass promotion, and the upholding of the Lasallian community’s welfare.

Mobilizing through “One La Salle for Human Rights and Democracy,” the student-led system-wide movement highlights the plight of the schools’ major sectors during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic and Enhanced Community Quarantine.

The unity statement detailed the “burdensome circumstances” faced not just by students but also by teachers across De La Salle schools.

It said that during the time of global crisis, the course of action most in line with the De La Salle institution’s core values is to relieve its community of the pressure to remain academically productive and redirect its efforts to help the nation’s poor and marginalized.
