Filipino Muslims celebrate Eid’l Fitr with prayers, reflection amid conflict abroad

Thousands of Filipino Muslims gather at Quezon Memorial Circle on March 21 to mark Eid’l Fitr, offering prayers of thanksgiving at the end of Ramadan. The celebration comes as conflict continues in the Middle East, placing the local observance alongside the wider realities facing Muslim communities worldwide.

Eid’l Fitr, or the “Feast of the Breaking of the Fast,” marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting from dawn to sunset observed as an act of faith and discipline. It is among the most important celebrations in Islam, marked by communal prayers, acts of charity, and thanksgiving to Allah, and rooted in the Five Pillars of the faith.
