The Diocese of Surabaya in Indonesia marked a significant milestone on Jan. 21 with the Solemn Vespers held at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral.

The Vespers included hymns, psalms, Scripture readings, intercessory prayers, and reflections, creating a sacred atmosphere for the faithful gathered.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the blessing of the episcopal insignia—the mitre, crosier, and episcopal ring—which symbolize the authority and responsibilities of the bishop.

Bishop Utomo also made his profession of fidelity to the Holy See, reaffirming his commitment to the universal Church under the leadership of Pope Francis.
