Archbishop Peter Soon-taick Chung of Seoul expressed profound grief and extended his condolences to the victims of the Jeju Air plane crash at Muan International Airport.
In a message released on Dec. 31, 2024, the prelate said, “I express my deepest condolences to all those who lost their lives in the Muan International Airport plane crash. I pray earnestly that God will embrace their souls and give comfort and strength to their families.”
The archbishop acknowledged the pain endured by those directly affected by the tragedy, adding, “We share the pain of the bereaved families and all those who have faced indescribable pain and sorrow due to this tragic accident.”
Archbishop Chung also commended the efforts of responders and “pray for all those who are doing their best on the scene.”
“I hope that the government authorities will do their best to recover from the accident and provide support,” he said.
He ended his message with a prayer, calling for Christ’s love and mercy to offer solace to those affected by the tragedy and eternal peace to the victims.
