Pope Francis renews call for peace during Corpus Christi Mass

Pope Francis focused on the role of the Eucharist in promoting peace amid global conflicts during a Mass at the Basilica of St. John Lateran for the Corpus Christi celebration.

The event included a procession to the Basilica of St. Mary Major, highlighting unity and reflection.

In his homily, the Pope discussed the spiritual significance of the Eucharistic bread, emphasizing themes of thanksgiving, remembrance, and divine presence.

“God is always close, especially in trying times, transforming our daily bread into a profound symbol of love and presence,” he said.

Pope Francis pointed out the importance of gratitude for God’s gifts and using our talents to serve others.

He noted that true freedom comes from service to others, a freedom that goes beyond selfish desires.

The pontiff also spoke about the societal impact of embracing the Eucharistic message, particularly in areas affected by war.

He envisioned a world where the scars of war are replaced with signs of hope and renewal. “The Eucharist invites us to a communion that transcends disputes and encourages peace,” he said.

The procession was described by Pope Francis not as a display of faith, but as an invitation to engage with the Eucharist’s transformative power.

This event is a call for believers to live out Gospel values in practical ways.

Pope Francis said the world needs the “bread of love” now more than ever. Through the Eucharist, believers are called to rebuild what hatred has destroyed and infuse the world with divine love and peace.
