IN PHOTOS: Activists decry government abuses, global injustices on 75th International Human Rights Day

Hundreds of activists marched in protest to Mendiola in Manila on December 10, 2023, commemorating the 75th International Human Rights Day.

They called for an end to the killings and human rights violations under the Marcos government, pledging to defend the people’s rights against government attacks.

Protesters expressed their dissent by hurling a large protest art installation depicting three giant playing cards featuring the current ‘king and queen,’ Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte.

These cards vividly portrayed their regime’s track record of human rights violations and breaches of international humanitarian law.

The third card, dubbed the ‘death card,’ depicted US President Joe Biden, whose government was accused of contributing to global death and terror.

Criticisms were centered on the alleged support and exacerbation of conflicts in Gaza, adversely affecting the Palestinian people.
