Faith-based group holds forum on good governance

A faith-based organization has convened a forum focused on the 2023 Barangay and SK Elections, highlighting the crucial roles of these local bodies in shaping communities and promoting responsible voting.

Themed “Empowering Responsible Governance: A Forum on the 2023 Barangay and SK Elections,” the Philippine Misereor Partnership Incorporated (PMPI) said it aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current issues and concerns surrounding these elections.

The forum discussed the importance of responsible voting in selecting competent leaders for our society and explored the essential functions and authority of barangays, which serve as the backbone of local governance.

The event concluded with a call to action for all attendees and the broader community to unite in their efforts.

Key objectives included advancing voter education, advocating for fair and peaceful elections, and championing good governance at the barangay and SK levels.

The importance of responsible citizenship, active community involvement, and youth empowerment were emphasized as essential elements for building strong, vibrant, and accountable local governments.

This one-day event took place at Ateneo de Manila’s ISO building on September 22, 2023.
