New rector for Manila Cathedral to be installed

Msgr. Rolando dela Cruz will be installed on April 14 at a ceremony to be presided over by Cardinal Jose Advincula, archbishop of Manila

The new rector of the Manila Cathedral will be officially installed next month – four months after he was appointed to the post.

Msgr. Rolando dela Cruz will be installed on April 14 at a ceremony to be presided over by Cardinal Jose Advincula, archbishop of Manila.

The priest replaced Father Reginald Malicdem, who is now chaplain at two mall chapels in Makati City.

Father Malicdem was also recently appointed as another vicar general and vice moderator curiae of the archdiocese.

Prior to becoming rector, Msgr. Dela Cruz was parish priest of the San Fernando de Dilao Parish in Manila’s Paco district for 12 years.

Ordained priest in 1985, among his previous assignments include being the vicar general, moderator curiae and oeconomus of the Archdiocese of Manila.

He was appointed papal chaplain in 1996.
