Damaged houses due to ‘Karding’ near 59K: NDRRMC

Agriculture damage was placed at PHP3.05 billion in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, and Cordillera

Super Typhoon Karding has damaged some 58,944 houses in five regions after battering Luzon last week, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday, October 3.

Of this number, 51,600 are classified as partially damaged while 7,344 are categorized as totally damaged.

These houses are in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).



Meanwhile, the number of families affected by “Karding” is 299,127 or 1,072,282 individuals in 1,915 barangays in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and the CAR.

As of this posting, only 806 families or around 3,044 persons are sheltering in 25 evacuation centers still active with the remainder having returned home or seeking shelter with relatives and friends.

Infrastructure damage was estimated at PHP304 million in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa, Bicol, and the CAR.

The number of deaths remained at 12 with five missing and 52 injured.

The majority of these casualties are still undergoing verification as of this time.
