Bishop Alminaza of San Carlos recovers from COVID-19

The bishop ended his quarantine on Friday but was advised to "conscientiously" guard his health due to "pre-existing medical conditions”

Bishop Gerardo Alminaza, 61, of San Carlos has fully recovered from COVID-19, said a report from CBCP News quoting the bishop’s diocese.

“He was discharged from San Carlos Doctor’s Hospital last June 25 after a six-day confinement and completed the 21-day quarantine,” the diocese said in an advisory.

“However, he is advised to be conscientiously guarded in receiving engagements as he resumes his important ministry for the Church due to his pre-existing medical conditions,” it added.

Bishop Alminaza will celebrate Mass at the San Carlos Borromeo Cathedral on Sunday, July 11, “in thanksgiving for all your prayers, expression of care and support.”

“The faithful is enjoined to continue observing the established health and safety protocols of the Department of Health and the Inter-Agency Task Force,” the diocese added in its advisory.

The bishop announced that he was COVID-19 positive on June 20.
