Diocese of Malaybalay in Mindanao has new bishop

Pope Francis has named Monsignor Noel Pedregosa as the new bishop for the Diocese of Malaybalay

Pope Francis has named Monsignor Noel Pedregosa as the new bishop for the Diocese of Malaybalay in the southern Philippine region of Mindanao.

Archbishop Charles Brown, papal nuncio to the Philippines, made the announcement on Tuesday, June 29, during the Pope’s Day Mass at the Manila Cathedral.

Bishop-elect Pedregosa was ordained priest for Malaybalay in 1991.

Since 2017, the 56-year-old priest has been vicar general of the diocese and rector of the Malaybalay Cathedral.

The diocese has been without a bishop since August 2020 after Bishop-elect Pedrogosa’s predecessor, Archbishop Jose Cabantan, formally assumed his post in Cagayan de Oro.

“We promise him the support of our prayers as he begins his mission in Bukidnon,” Archbishop Brown said.
