Kinilala ng Simbahang Katolika ang mga masigasig sa social media, lalo na ang mga kabataan, na mga bagong “storytellers” sa paghahayag ng mabuting balita ng Panginoon.
Ayon kay Bishop Marcelino Antonio Maralit Jr. ng Boac, chairman ng Social Communications Ministry ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, malaking ambag sa paglago ng pananampalataya ang pagiging masigasig sa pagbabahagi nito sa social media.
“I would dare call you all as the “new storytellers” of the Church,” aniya.
“Given the almost limitless reach of social media in today’s world, your enthusiasm and desire to tell the story of your faith, of our faith, guarantees the lighting of the lamp on the lamp stand of today,” bahagi ng pahayag ni Bishop Maralit sa Radyo Veritas.
Ang pahayag ng obispo ay kaugnay sa nalalapit na taunang Catholic Social Media Summit na gaganapin ngayong Nobyembre.
Tema ng summit ngayong taon ang “Transform” na hango sa mensahe ni Pope Francis sa ika-54 na World Communications Day.
Labis naman ang pasalamat ng obispo sa mga naunang tumugon sa panawagan ng Simbahan na maging kaisa sa pagpalaganap ng mga turo ni Hesus gamit ang makabagong uri ng teknolohiya.
“I would like to first express my most sincere gratitude to all the faithful who blesses me and the whole Church with their response to the invitation to be this generation’s new evangelizers,” dagdag ni Bishop Maralit.
Gaganapin ang virtual summit tuwing Sabado at Linggo sa buong buwan ng Nobyembre kung saan nakatuon ang mga talakayan sa online evangelization lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya.
Kaugnay dito, sinabi ni Bishop Maralit na malaki ang naitulong ng mga naglilingkod sa social communications ministry upang manatiling buhay ang diwa ng pananampalataya sa bawat tahanan sa gitna ng krisis na kinakaharap ng lipunan.
“In the midst of the diverse forms which darkness has taken on in our times, your voice, your ministry are the instruments that bring into fore the light of our Lord. Thank you for being our Lord’s new evangelizers and storytellers,” ayon sa obispo.
“Always believe that no matter the advances of technology and the vastness of its reach, it is only the Spirit of God that can truly touch and transform hearts. Thus, never fail to pray first and always before you click and go online. Let the Spirit be the true force that drives your ministry,” sabi ni Bishop Maralit.
Taong 2012 nang unang isinagawa ang Catholic Social Media Summit sa inisyatiba ng YouthPinoy, isang grupo ng mga online missionaries katuwang ang Areopagus Communications at ang Media Office ng CBCP.
