The Diocese of Antipolo’s Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People has forged a partnership with the city’s education office for the online tutorial of public school learners.
Through an agreement signed on September 23, the commission and the City Schools Division Office of Antipolo pledged closer collaboration in delivering education in “new normal” amid the pandemic.
Dubbed as “Turo Mo, Kaalaman Ko,” the online tutorial program was forged as classes for the school year 2020-2021 open on October 5.
Originally scheduled on August 24, the opening of classes was deferred to allow the Education department to fully prepare for the blended learning system.
The agreement was signed between the diocese’s Father Jose Bautista and lay coordinator Dario Coronel and the Division Schools of Antipolo led by its Superintendent, Dr. Christopher Diaz and Dr. Jonathan Domingo, Chief of Schools Governance Operation Division.
The Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People has an existing partnership with Antipolo’s Education department on the formation of children of overseas Filipino workers. It was expanded to reach out to other students during the pandemic.
Amelia Coronel, tutorial project coordinator, said they now have about 70 volunteer tutors committed to serve in the online tutorial.
She said they are expecting the number of volunteers to increase in the coming days.
