Seminary rector in Albay tested positive of Covid-19

The vice rector of Mater Salutis College Seminary in the province of Albay has been tested positive for Covid-19.

The Diocese of Legazpi announced on Friday, August 14, that Father Antonio Peralta, 64, “is currently quarantined in his place of assignment” in Daraga town.

The diocese said the priest “had a slight fever and noticed a loss of smell and taste.” He was tested for Covid-19 on August 7.

“We ask the public to pray for the fast and full recovery of Father Peralta and all Covid-19 patients,” said Father Rex Paul Arjona, the diocese’s spokesman.

He also asked the public to support frontliners and government authorities “and religiously observe the prescribed health standards.”

The diocese made the public announcement to help local health authorities trace those Father Peralta made contact in recent days.

On July 27, the Archdiocese of Cacares, also in the Bicol region, announced that two of its priests were found positive of the disease. Both priests have already fully recovered.
