Miriam College forms committee to probe sexual harassment complaints

Miriam College has announced the creation of an independent committee that will investigate the alleged sexual harassment complaints involving faculty members.

The Catholic school earlier vowed to address the issue after students and alumni came out and shared on social media their experiences of sexual harassment from teachers.

The hashtag #MCHSDoBetter trended online prompting other Catholic school students to share their stories of alleged sexual abuse committed by school personnel.

Miriam College said its Truth and Justice Committee, composed of six committee members, has already convened “to lay down the rules for the conduct of its proceedings.”

The school urged “all aggrieved” to report and submit formal complaints on the incidents of sexual harassment through the email address [email protected].

Ambassador Laura Del Rosario, president of Miriam College, expressed “heartfelt gratitude” to all who provided suggestions and comments, and “for being with us in our journey towards transformation.”
