Catholic educators consider homeschooling amid pandemic

Catholic schools in the country might implement homeschooling when the new school year opens in August.

Father Nolan Que, trustee of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), said homeschooling is an option for the first quarter of the school year.

He said schools can implement three months of homeschooling or “until such time that we are already calm and that parents are assured of physical distancing.”

The priest said a survey conducted by CEAP showed that one clear option is home-based education to protect students against the new coronavirus disease.

“We are collecting the data that will be the basis of our decision,” said the priest.

He said schools are also set to create an “infomercial” that will remind students and school employees of health protocols.

CEAP comprises 1,484 member-schools across the country.
