Cambodian garment workers face rocky road to work

    The above video from Radio Free Asia examines the at times perilous daily commute faced by Cambodia’s 700,000 garment workers — most of them women.  

    Forced to travel to work standing in the back of old pickups or vans, Cambodia’s garment workers often face a perilous path to making ends meet.

    With drivers sometimes drinking, weaving in and out of traffic, stopping on a dime and paying no heed to traffic rules, the daily commute underpinning a $7 billion export industry can prove to be fatal.
