Sisters of St. Joseph in Pakistan embrace Pope Francis’ call as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery (CSJ) in Pakistan are answering Pope Francis’ call to be “Pilgrims of Hope” as they prepare for the 2025 Jubilee Year.

Drawing inspiration from the Pope’s message, “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us,” the Sisters have launched a series of reflective and forward-looking initiatives.

Their journey began on Dec. 26, 2024, with a Holy Adoration session in thanksgiving and preparation for their Biannual Regional Assembly, which took place from Dec. 29, 2024, to Jan. 3, 2025.

The assembly was a deeply spiritual and dynamic gathering, marked by a symbolic candle-lighting ceremony representing hope and renewal, according to the online news hub Catholics in Pakistan.

The assembly brought together influential voices to guide discussions on spiritual and practical challenges.

Fr. Emmanuel Assi led an impactful session on Servant Leadership, encouraging the sisters to lead with humility and selflessness.

Fr. Qaiser Feroz OFM Cap delved into the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI), sparking conversations about its implications for ministry and mission work in the modern age.

Key discussions also focused on safeguarding policies and revisiting the congregation’s constitution, emphasizing accountability and alignment with contemporary needs.

Adding significance to the event, Archbishop Benny Mario Travas made a pastoral visit to the Sisters’ convent in Lahore on Dec. 31, 2024.

The prelate’s presence underscored the Church’s support for the Sisters’ mission and offered a message of encouragement as they recommitted themselves to the Jubilee Year’s theme.

The religious sisters reaffirmed their commitment to serving their communities. As they prepare for the Jubilee Year, they emphasized their focus on spiritual growth, servant leadership, and addressing challenges through new approaches.
