Pope Francis calls for global peace, harmony on Pentecost Sunday

Pope Francis on Pentecost Sunday led the faithful in prayer, urging the Holy Spirit to foster harmony and peace globally, with special attention on conflict zones including Palestine, Israel, and Ukraine.

During the midday Regina Coeli prayer in St. Peter’s Square, the pontiff emphasized the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, celebrated for uniting diverse and conflicting elements into harmony.

“On this Pentecost Sunday, we remember how the Holy Spirit creates harmony out of different realities,” he said.

In his prayer, Pope Francis called for the Holy Spirit to instill “the Love of the Father and of the Son” into hearts, families, societies, and the world.

He expressed a deep yearning for the cessation of wars, specifically lamenting the recent attacks in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv and ongoing conflicts in the Holy Land.

“The Holy Spirit’s role in our lives is to foster communion and turn our differences into strengths,” the Pope reflected.

He highlighted the need for world leaders to embrace the spirit of dialogue: “May the Spirit lead world leaders and each of us to open doors and pathways to peace,” he stressed.
