The Catholic bishops in the province of Bohol have condemned what they described as a series of violence in the province in recent months.
“We … call on the faithful … to be united in condemning this shameful sin and crime of killing a person,” read part of the statement of Bishop Alberto Uy of Tagbilaran and Bishop Patrick Daniel Parcon of Talibon.
The prelates were referring to a series of killings that reportedly happened in a town of Bohol this month.
On April 3, a retired police officer was shot dead in Barangay Calanggaman, Ubay town. On April 14, another shooting incident happened in the village of Los Angeles in the same town.
On April 17, security guard of a gasoline station was shot dead in Barangay San Pascual, also in Ubay town.
Another security guard sustained gunshot wounds and was recuperating at the hospital.
Investigation is still ongoing to determine the identity of the perpetrators, said the police.
