Abu Dhabi’s Saint Joseph Cathedral to hold ‘Simbang Gabi’ Masses

The parish has over 100,000 expatriate Catholics from all over the world, most of whom are Filipinos

The Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia announced that “Simbang Gabi,” or dawn Masses ahead of Christmas, will be celebrated at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Abu Dhabi after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

“Ang Katolikong Pinoy sa Abu Dhabi ay malugod na nag-aanyaya para sa ating Simbang Gabi 2022 in St. Joseph Cathedral, Abu Dhabi, sa December 15 hanggang 23, tuwing ikawalo ng gabi,” Father Troy Delos Santos told Radio Veritas 846 in an interview.

The priest urged the Filipino faithful to make the celebration more meaningful in preparation for Christmas.

“Paalala lamang sa ating mananampalataya bagamat face-to-face na ang ating Simbang Gabi, patuloy pong ipinatutupad ang safety protocol sa pamamagitan ng pagsusuot ng facemask,” said Father Delos Santos.

“Kaya naman mga minamahal kong kapatid, kita-kita po tayo sa ating Simbang Gabi at sama-sama po nating salubungin ang pagsilang ng ating Panginoong Hesus,” added the priest.

The St. Joseph’s Cathedral is the seat of the Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia and is one of the four Catholic churches in Abu Dhabi.

The parish has over 100,000 expatriate Catholics from all over the world, most of whom are Filipinos.
