Catholic schools, institutions invited to attend CEAP national convention

About 2,500 out of the 3,200 delegates have already registered for the convention that will have the theme: “Pilgrims of Hope Moving Forward in Synodality”

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) is inviting all Catholic schools and institutions to attend the 2022 CEAP National Convention that will be held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City from October 25-28 this year.

“Patuloy kaming nag-iimbita para sa aming mga kasama sa Catholic education na dumalo sa first convention natin after the pandemic,” said Jose Allan Arelleno, executive director of CEAP in an interview over Radio Veritas 846.

It will be the first gathering after almost three years since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Arelleno said about 2,500 out of the 3,200 delegates have already registered for the convention that will have the theme: “Pilgrims of Hope Moving Forward in Synodality.”

Discussions on education, the role of Catholic education, and faith formation of students will be conducted during the four-day event.

Benedictine Sister Mary John Mananzan and La Salle Brother Armin Luistro will receive the 2022 Pro Deo Et Patria Award from the country’s largest association of Catholic schools.

The recognition is the highest award presented by CEAP to those “who manifest an exemplary attitude of love for God and country.”

The award, according to CEAP, is also given to those who displayed “faithfulness to Catholic teachings as part of service to God.”

Sister Mananzan was cited by Women Deliver as one of the 100 inspiring persons in the world on the occasion of the 100 years of the International Women’s Day celebration in March 2011.

Currently, she is the vice president for external affairs of St. Scholastica’s College in Manila.

Brother Luistro, meanwhile, was recently elected as the 28th Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, the first Filipino to hold such office.

He also served as the Secretary of the Department of Education from 2010 to the year 2016.
