Opus Dei vows to continue expanding Christian formation work in the Philippines

The mission of the organization is "to impart the Christian message so that our faith will be seen in our daily life"

The Opus Dei, formally known as the Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei, vowed to continue expanding its work in Christian formation in the Philippines.

“The main task of Opus Dei is to give formation, Christian formation and all of this in different aspects,” said Monsignor Carlos Estrada, Opus Dei regional vicar, in a Radio Veritas 846 interview.

He said the mission of the organization is “to impart the Christian message so that our faith will be seen in our daily life.”



The priest urged the faithful to carry out their duties well “for the love of God,” adding that “through the life of prayer and the sacraments one can achieve holiness here in this world.”

Monsignor Estrada said that anybody who wishes to enrich their spiritual life are “most welcome” in all the organization’s activities in different Opus Dei centers where spiritual activities.

During Mass at the Manila Cathedral on June 27 for the feast of St. Jose Maria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei, Archbishop Charles Brown, papal nuncio to the Philippines, lauded the mission of the Opus Dei.

“We come with hearts filled with gratitude and joy this evening to celebrate the memory and the teaching of this great saint who has shown us a way of sanctification in the modern world,” said the prelate in his homily.

There are approximately 3,000 members of Opus Dei in the Philippines.
