Antipolo shrine to join global praying of rosary with Pope Francis

The pope’s rosary will be broadcast live at 6:00 p.m. from the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome, midnight of June 1 in the Philippines

The National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo City will be among the Marian sanctuaries all over the world invited by the Vatican to join Pope Francis in praying the rosary for peace on May 31.

The shrine, also known as the Antipolo Cathedral, announced on Thursday, May 27, that it has accepted the invitation from the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of New Evangelization to take part in the activity to end the Marian month.

The pope’s rosary will be broadcast live at 6:00 p.m. from the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome, midnight of June 1 in the Philippines.

“We want to invite everyone to pray the Holy Rosary and spread this initiative of the Holy Father who desires to express his closeness to each country involved in conflict and war,” the shrine said.

“Together, let us pray the Rosary for Peace with the Virgin of Antipolo and Pope Francis who will be praying inside the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in front of Mary, Regina Pacis,” it added.

In May 2021, the country’s first national shrine was also among the 30 Marian shrines around the world that the Vatican invited for the month-long “prayer marathon”.

The shrine has yet to release other details of the prayer activity.
