OFWs, kinilala ng mga obispo kasunod sa mataas na ‘remmittance rate’ nitong 2021

“With their generous remittance, our Christmas is merrier and our new year happier"

Kinilala ng Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines ang overseas Filipino workers dahil sa sakripisyo at pagpupursigi kahit malayo man sa mga pamilya.

“Our OFWs are our economic frontliners against COVID-19,” ayon kay Bishop Ruperto Santos ng Balanga, vice chairman ng komisyon.

“With their remittance just for this first nine months of 2021 of US$23.12 billion, we are financially sustained and stable,” dagdag ng obispo sa panayam sa Veritas 846.

Iginiit ni Bishop Santos ang pagkakaroon ng sektor na “Bagong Bayani” dahil sa pagpapakita ng mga OFW nang katangiang katangi-tangi sa mga manggagawang Pilipino.

“Truly, they are economic heroes,” aniya. “Much more, they show to the whole world the true face of Filipinos — honest, hardworking and helpful.”

Nanawagan naman ang obispo na ipagdasal ang mga OFW. “They are always ready to share, make sacrifices for our country and their loved ones,” aniya.

“With their generous remittance, our Christmas is merrier and our new year happier. Let us be grateful to them and always pray for their strength, sound health, and safety,” dagdag ni Bishop Santos.
