Baguio diocese warns against solicitation scam

The Diocese of Baguio has warned the public against scammers raising funds in the name of Bishop Victor Bendico

The Diocese of Baguio has warned the public against scammers raising funds in the name of Bishop Victor Bendico.

In a statement dated October 9, the diocese cautioned against text messages illegally collecting funds from the people of the Archdiocese of Capiz for a supposed relief project.

It clarified that the bishop “did not ask for any help for a fundraising for a relief operation for the indigents in the northern lands.”

The diocese urged the public to report similar incidents to their chancery or through their Facebook page.

“Please exercise extra vigilance when faced with solicitation from unverified sources,” the statement added.
