Philippine bishops’ youth commission tells young voters to choose right candidates

“Study the candidates, their platforms, and their track record,” said Bishop Rex Andrew Alarcon of Daet, head of the commission

The head of the Episcopal Commission on Youth of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines urged young and new voters to choose the right candidates in next year’s elections.

“Study the candidates, their platforms, and their track record,” said Bishop Rex Andrew Alarcon of Daet, head of the commission.

The prelate stressed the importance of the candidates’ track record “so that we will know what they have done already.”

He said discerning on who to vote for in the coming polls needs not only study but also prayers.

“This is very important, so I encourage our young voters (to pray,” said the bishop over Church-run Veritas 846.

The 2022 presidential and vice presidential elections are scheduled to be held on May 9 as part of that year’s general election.

It will be the 17th direct presidential election and 16th vice presidential election in the Philippines since 1935.
