Annual new evangelization meet to be held online

This year's conference will carry the theme “FOR A SYNODAL CHURCH: Encounter, Participation and Mission”

The annual Philippine Conference on New Evangelization (PCNE) will be held online this year due to health restrictions brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

This year’s conference, which will be held from October 22 to 24, will carry the theme “FOR A SYNODAL CHURCH: Encounter, Participation and Mission” in preparation of the Synod on Synodality of the Church in 2023.

Cardinal Jose Advincula of Manila will lead the first day of discussions with the faith stories of Hidilyn Diaz, Judy Ann Santos, Candy Pangilinan, Chris Tiu, and “Caritas In Action” resident opthalmologist Dr. Mario Reyes.

On the second day, Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara of Pasig, will hold a session on family life and society, including discussions of the “One Godly Vote” campaign of Radio Veritas 846.

On the last day of the conference, there will be a sharing of stories by medical frontliners and discussions on the Living Laudato si’ Movement, the use of social media in the Church, and the phenomenon of community pantries during the pandemic.

Cardinal Advincula will lead the closing Mass and mission sending on the last day.

A brainchild of Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the PCNE annually gathers more than 5,000 bishops, priests, nuns and laypeople for a weekend of praise, worship, catechism and sharing to strengthen Christian love for Jesus and missionary work.
