“The Pope Video,” a monthly video featuring the pope’s prayer intentions, has been translated into Filipino.
The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network recently launched “Ang Video ng Papa” in celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines.
PWPN international director, Jesuit Father Frederick Fornos, himself pushed for the production of the Filipino version in support of the quincentennial celebration.
The prayer network, formerly known as the Apostleship of Prayer, started the initiative in 2016 with a video message of the pope praying for a specific intention.
The videos were released every month in at least nine languages to help everyone pray for the pope’s intentions.
Since then, “The Pope Video” has expanded to several major languages, including Chinese, Swahili, Russian, Korean, Polish and Japanese.
This year, on the fifth anniversary of the prayer initiative, two more languages have been added— Filipino and the Mayan Q’eqchi’ language.
Jesuit Father Victor De Jesus, national director of PWPN – Philippines, said the video consists of the pope speaking usually in Spanish with subtitles.
“In our case, there are Filipino subtitles,” Father De Jesus said.
