Cardinal Advincula’s ‘red hat’ ceremony postponed to June 8

The event, which was earlier set to take place on Friday, May 28, has been moved to June 8 due to the availability of the papal nuncio

The “red hat ceremony” for Cardinal Jose Advincula, the new archbishop of Manila, has been rescheduled for next month.

The event, which was set to take place on Friday, May 28, has been moved to June 8 due to the availability of the papal nuncio, Archbishop Charles Brown.

Archbishop Brown arrived in Manila last week after a trip to New York.

Father Emilio Arbatin, spokesperson of the Capiz archdiocese, said the nuncio is currently undergoing the government-mandated 14-day quarantine.

He said the ceremony will still take place at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral in Roxas City at 9:00 a.m. on June 8.

Cardinal Advincula will be officially installed as the 33rd archbishop of Manila on June 24.

The 69-year-old prelate will formally assume the post during a Mass at the Manila Cathedral.

Also postponed is the canonical coronation of the image of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores de Capas in the Diocese of Tarlac, which will be led by the papal nuncio.

Originally set on May 31, the coronation and pastoral visit to the diocese will now be held on June 5.
