Bishop Ruperto Santos of Balanga called for the daily prayer of the Holy Rosary in his diocese during the month of October.
“Let us recite daily the Holy Rosary, offering it for the healing of our land,” said Bishop Santos in a pastoral directive issued on September 30.
The bishop also asked the faithful to include a particular village in the parish or persons in the daily prayers.
“Let us offer each day for a particular barangay in our whole town or parish and for a particular persons such as our healthcare workers, our men and women in uniform, our [local government units], our essential service providers, our sick and elderly, our family, faithful departed, etc, until we complete the 31 days of October,” said Bishop Santos.
The prelate also urged the faithful to pray the rosary with devotion.
“Let us be faithful in reciting the Holy Rosary. We should pray it with devotion – reflectively and meditatively, not mechanically, prayerful and not routinary,” he said.
Filipinos have dedicated the month of October to the Blessed Mother and to the Holy Rosary. Traditionally, Filipino Catholics associate October with the Our Lady of the Rosary.
