The Manila Cathedral will resume the public celebration of Masses on Wednesday, September 16, but with only a limited number of people allowed inside.
“Only 80 persons can be accommodated inside the cathedral for each Mass, on a first come first served basis,” read an announcement posted by church officials on social media.
“During Sundays, the faithful can also stay in Plaza Roma, where communion will also be distributed,” it added.
Plaza Roma is a square in front of the cathedral in the walled city of Manila.
Masses will be celebrated from Monday to Friday at 7:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. On Saturdays, Massed will be at 7:30 a.m. and on Sundays at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 6 p.m.
All the Masses will also be broadcast live on the cathedral’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The Cathedral will also be open for private prayers from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1p.m. to 5 p.m.
The public is reminded to wear face masks and face shields when entering the church>
Known as the “Mother Church of the country,” public celebration of Masses at the cathedral have been suspended since March when strict community quarantine was imposed by authorities due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On September 8, the Manila Cathedral opened its doors to the public for one day to celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
