Catholic priest in Antipolo diocese found dead with gunshot wound

Initial police investigation said a revolver and two bullet shells were recovered at the scene

The parochial vicar of the St. John the Baptist parish church in Taytay, Rizal, was found dead with a gunshot wound on Wednesday, September 9.

Reports said the body of Father Nomer de Lumen, 32, was discovered in his room about 3:45 p.m.

Initial police investigation said a revolver and two bullet shells were recovered at the scene. The priest reportedly sustained a bullet wound to his chin.




Father De Lumen had been serving as assistant parish priest at St. John the Baptist Parish and spiritual director of the Commission on Social Communications of the Diocese of Antipolo.

The diocese has yet to issue a statement regarding the cause of death of the priest.

Father Alejandro Pestaño, chancellor of the Diocese of Antipolo, announced through social media that the wake of the priest will be at St. Jude Parish in Tanay, Rizal, starting on September 11.

Father De Lumen, a newly ordained priest, was assigned as parochial vicar of St. John the Baptist parish in Taytay, Rizal, on Dec. 1, 2019.

He was commissioned as Spiritual Director of the Diocese of Antipolo Social Communications Ministry on May 21.
