Church chorale sings Padre Pio’s prayer to bring hope during pandemic

A CHURCH chorale in central Luzon came together virtually for a performance of Saint Padre Pio’s prayer “Stay with me, Lord”.

Each member of the Diocese of Cabanatuan’s Magnificat Grand Chorale recorded parts of a song assigned to them to create one video.

Father William Simoun Villaviza, chairman and spiritual director of the group, said the chorale wanted to do something to lift people’s spirits amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“May we be able to bring inspiration and hope in the midst of difficult situation,” he said. “We have nothing to fear and to worry about because God is always with us,” added the priest.

Written by Brother Ferdinand Bautista, the song is based on a prayer of Padre Pio. It was the official hymn for the visit of the saint’s “incorrupt” heart relic to the Philippines in 2018.

An estimated five million people flocked to venerate the relic in what was touted as one of the largest relic visit events in the country’s church history.
