Bishop urges youth to respond to call of vocation

The bishop of the Diocese of Boac in the province of Marinduque called on young people to answer the Lord’s call for vocations.

“Take courage to respond when you feel the call,” said Bishop Marcelino Antonio Maralit, vice chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Vocations of the bishops’ conference.

“God will always respect your response. The courage to respond to the call is also very important,” said the prelate on the occasion of Vocations Sunday on May 3.

He said one essential part in responding to the call of vocation is to seek guidance from the people who can help nourish the vocation.

“Seek guidance because sometimes it is really daunting,” he said, adding that “it is helpful that there is someone to ask for advice or somebody who can guide you toward your journey.”

Bishop Maralit said there is a great need for priests, with only about 10,000 priests in the country serving about 80 million Filipino Catholics.
