Pope Francis urges Catholics to invoke Mary’s intercession amid global conflict

Pope Francis called on the faithful to pray the Rosary, particularly during the month of May, as he entrusted the cause of peace to the Blessed Virgin Mary for regions suffering from conflict, including Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, and Myanmar.

Speaking at his Wednesday General Audience in St. Peter’s Square, the Pope urged people to rely on prayer and Our Lady’s intercession as conflicts continue to affect communities worldwide.

“I invite everyone to invoke Mary’s intercession, so that the Lord may grant peace to the whole world, especially to the dear and martyred Ukraine, and to Palestine, Israel, and Myanmar,” he said.

The Pope noted that the day marks the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and falls during the month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

He specifically mentioned the Church’s prayer of supplication to Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii.

He also entrusted to the Blessed Mother young people, the elderly, the sick, and newlyweds.

“I urge everyone to value praying the Holy Rosary this May,” he emphasized.

Before concluding with his Apostolic Blessing, Pope Francis repeated his call for prayer, asking the faithful to seek Mary’s intercession for peace and reconciliation in conflict-affected areas.
