Cubao prelate urges faithful to go back to church as COVID-19 cases drop

“Let us refresh, reconnect and reboot ourselves,” said Bishop Ongtioco, adding that Catholics should receive sacraments in person

The Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Cubao in Quezon City called on the faithful to go back to attending religious celebrations in churches as cases of COVID-19 in the country continue to drop.

“We need to refresh our faith,” said Bishop Honesto Ongtioco, echoing the earlier appeal of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) for the faithful to go back to church.

“We are asked to come back to Church, to once again experience what it means to be a community (which) is to be in communion with others, to participate in God’s plan of salvation, and to live with a mission,” said the prelate.

“Let us refresh, reconnect and reboot ourselves,” he said, adding that practicing Catholics should receive sacraments in person.

The bishop also asked those who are accustomed to attending Masses through video live streaming to join other faithful in praying and worshiping God inside the church.
