Photos: Christmas brings much-needed income to Manila’s poor

Filipinos are known for celebrating the “longest Christmas” in the world and start decorating homes for the holiday season as early as September

Reynaldo Magquilat, 69, a newspaper vendor, works on handcrafted Christmas lanterns made of used polyethylene terephthalate bottles that he sells for PhP35 (less than a dollar) each along Scout Chuatoco in Quezon City, in the Philippine capital.

The handmade lanterns augment his daily income during the Christmas season.
