Cebu archdiocese launches councils for popular devotions, apostolic services

The Archdiocese of Cebu has launched two new councils that will take charge of “popular devotions” and “apostolic services”

The Archdiocese of Cebu has launched two new councils that will take charge of “popular devotions” and “apostolic services” through the Commission on the Laity of the archdiocese.

The launching of the Cebu Archdiocesan Council of Popular Devotions and the Cebu Archdiocesan Council of Apostolic Services was led by Archbishop Jose Palma of Cebu.

“This year, the Archdiocese of Cebu aims to organize the Councils of Popular Devotions and Apostolic Services in every parish within the archdiocese,” read a statement from the archdiocese.

The Council on Popular Devotions will serve as coordinating body for all organizations identified through their devotion to the Holy Trinity and the Saints and other lay movements “with specific spirituality and acts of piety.”

The Apostolic Services council, meanwhile, will take care of the services offered by the Church through organizations identified “through their particular service offered for the love of the Church” that do not belong to Charismatic, Marian, Third Order, and Popular Devotions.
