A radio commentator was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen in the southern Philippine city of Tacurong on Wednesday, January 12.

The victim was identified as Jaynard Angeles, 36, of Matiompong village in the neighboring town of Lambayong.

A report on the government-run Philippine News Agency said Angeles, former station manager of Radyo ni Juan FM station and a radio commentator, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The PNA report said Angeles had resigned from Radyo ni Juan FM to run for councilor in his hometown under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas party.
