Bishop Broderick Pabillo, former auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Manila, left on Thursday, August 5, for Palawan ahead of his installation on August 19 as apostolic vicar of Taytay.
The prelate was welcomed in Puerto Princesa, capital of Palawan province, by Father Reynante Aguanta, apostolic administrator of the vicariate, and Father Philip Jerold Tan, the chancellor.
Bishop Pabillo immediately proceeded to Taytay where he will undergo a seven-day quarantine period.
Earlier, the Manila Cathedral gave Bishop Pabillo a chasuble as gift for his installation in Palawan.
“As Bishop Broderick Pabillo heads to Palawan for his canonical installation as the Vicar Apostolic of Taytay, Fr. Regie (Malicdem) and Fr. Kali (Llamado) presented a gift from the Manila Cathedral, the chasuble to be used by the Bishop during his installation,” read a post on the Cathedral’s Facebook page.
“Thanks to Leitourgos Vestments for their exquisite workmanship,” it added.
Pope Francis appointed Bishop Pabillo as the second vicar apostolic of Taytay on June 29. The 66-year-old prelate had been auxiliary bishop of Manila since 2006.
