New Manila prelate retains all archdiocese officials in posts

Cardinal Jose Advincula, new archbishop of Manila, issued a decree retaining the services of all incumbent church officials and workers in the archdiocese

Cardinal Jose Advincula, the new archbishop of Manila, issued a decree retaining the services of all incumbent church officials and workers in the archdiocese.

“I hereby decree that all clergy, religious men and women, and lay faithful, who have an official appointment to the parishes, offices, commissions, and ministries in the Archdiocese of Manila, shall continue functioning according to the faculties, responsibilities, rights, and privileges that are inherent to their office,” read a decree signed by the prelate on June 25.

Among the officials who will remain in their posts are Vicar General Monsignor Clemente Ignacio, Episcopal Vicars Monsignor Jesus Bandojo, Monsignor Esteban Lo, Father Sanny de Claro, Father James Ferry, and Father Reginald Malicdem.

“(This is) in order that the administration of the Archdiocese of Manila and the pastoral services rendered to the People of God are ensured,” said Cardinal Advincula.

He said the decree is “effective immediately until my or my successor’s revocation (ad nutum episcopi).”

The Cardinal was formally installed as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila on June 24.
