Bishop Pabillo still apostolic administrator of Manila

Until Cardinal Advincula is installed archbishop of Manila, the name of Bishop Pabillo will continue to be mentioned in Eucharistic prayers

Bishop Broderick Pabillo will remain apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Manila until the new prelate, Cardinal Jose F. Advincula, is formally installed.

Father Reginald Malicdem, rector of the Manila Cathedral, said the name of Bishop Pabillo will continue to be mentioned in the Eucharistic Prayer of Masses celebrated in the archdiocese.

“Until Cardinal Jose Advincula is installed as archbishop of Manila, the name of Bishop Broderick Pabillo as apostolic administrator will continue to be mentioned,” said the priest.

The Archdiocese of Manila has been left “sede vacante” after Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle assumed his post as Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples in Rome in February last year.

On Thursday, March 25, Pope Francis named Cardinal Advincula of the Archdiocese of Capiz as the new archbishop of Manila.
